Weather permitting, weekly inspection of the hives in the training apiary If you have an entrance gate key – just turn up. It you do not have a key then meet at the car park between 1.55pm and 2pm.
Students who attend the beginner’s course in February will be attending the branch apiary. For some this will be their first chance to look inside an active beehive. Come along and socialise with the group.

A teaching session - How to set up and manage an Observation Hive at a public event. This will include the requirement for producing a risk assessment. Routine inspections of the colonies.
Teaching session - clearing Supers, Honey extraction, Honey Processing, including testing honey with a Refractometer. Four students will be taking their Basic Assessment at the apiary during the course of the day.
Removing last of honey supers. Applying Varroa treatments Feeding colonies for the winter. Teaching session - Rendering wax out of old combs.
